For the W16 Mistral ‘Caroline,’ its future owner, a loyal Bugatti customer, aimed to add a completely unique identity—one characterized by delicacy and grace—complementing the design philosophy of the W16 Mistral. That vision was inspired by the gentle beauty of flowers, intertwined with Haute Couture and a heartfelt tribute in the car’s name—chosen to honor his daughter.

From Bugatti’s Atelier in Molsheim to its new Design Studio in Berlin, the company’s Color & Material Finish team, led by Sabine Consolini, turned this concept into reality. Her team oversees every tactile and visual element of the vehicle, from choosing leather and carbon-fiber finishes to selecting primary and accent colors. Dedicated and passionate, they embarked on a creative journey, drawing inspiration from flowers and their emotional impact.
They looked to the lavender fields of Provence, the curated Parisian gardens, and the luxurious fabrics and colors of Haute Couture. The designers transformed these natural and artistic influences into a unique piece of automotive craftsmanship. Through ongoing dialogue with the client, initial ideas evolved into refined proposals—each step clarifying the vision, making it both poetic and precise.

Each headrest features a mirrored, hand-stitched floral motif, made with layered stitching techniques and countless threads, allowing multiple tones to coexist within a single design.

Created through a detailed process including sketching, digital mapping, stitching, and careful quality checks, the richly layered details invite closer inspection, revealing new subtleties and artistic interest with each glance. Across the door panels, the embroidery becomes more dynamic, with petals that seem to drift and flow as if carried by the wind. This sense of movement was thoughtfully designed to reflect Bugatti’s core design language, making sure even the tiniest details convey energy and vitality. In the center of the cabin, the gear selector features Rembrandt Bugatti’s iconic ‘Dancing Elephant,’ encased in glass tinted to match the surrounding violet palette; creating a quiet yet meaningful connection to the marque’s artistic roots.

Initially explored via a wide spectrum of floral-inspired shades, with dozens of samples evaluated across the car’s sculptural surfaces, the final hue was carefully adjusted to strike a delicate balance between warmth and luminosity, depth and shimmer.
