We begin with Roger Dubuis Brocéliande; simply mentioning this mythical and enchanted forest naturally evokes the Arthurian legend. It is home to the fairy Viviane, a gathering place for the Knights of the Round Table, and Merlin’s sanctuary. This legendary forest, which guards many mysteries, sparks both imagination and thought. The unseen inspires questions, while the seen captivates. Roger Dubuis found an ideal source of inspiration for designing an enigmatic, enchanting women’s watch that is mechanically intricate and artistically stunning.

This inspiration first appeared in the 2015 Excalibur Brocéliande, a 42mm watch with a skeletonized tourbillon movement. The brand now expands its women’s collection with two new Excalibur Brocéliande models. These are crafted in a new 38mm size and feature a specially developed movement—paying tribute to the legendary Arthurian forest beloved by Roger Dubuis.

The Maison crafted these two Excalibur Brocéliande timepieces by leveraging the expertise of its skilled artisans. They captured the essence of this magical place during the most stunning moments of the day, when the forest reflects shimmering hues as the sky changes, aligning with this year’s horological theme at Roger Dubuis. The Dawn Rose model symbolizes the forest’s awakening at dawn with vibrant colors, while the Twilight Blue version embodies the shades of dusk on a starry night. Both watches feature a design that is simultaneously intricate and light.

The sapphire glass showcases a delicate gold ivy pattern, with leaves of finely engraved mother-of-pearl. Inside, the sapphire reveals the movement, which is decorated with ivy motifs and features three mobile parts. The micro-rotor is complemented by two small, freely rotating sapphire discs, adding visual drama. This design evokes the wind among the treetops, demonstrating refined technical mastery. A double-sided flange surrounds the sapphire dial: one side is striated, the other has a satin matte finish, with gold-plated hour markers filled with Super-LumiNova®.

The two Excalibur Brocéliande models in Twilight Blue and Dawn Rose differ primarily in the colors applied to the external components. The first, reminiscent of the fading light at dusk, takes on a delicate blue hue on the strap, echoing the shade of the translucent varnish covering the dial’s sapphire glass. The leaves are made of white mother-of-pearl, finely cut and hand-polished, while the hour markers glow with a bluish luminescence. The timepiece in Dawn Rose, set against the first rays of dawn, features a bezel adorned with brilliant-cut diamonds.
On the clear sapphire dial, the watch takes on the yellow, pink and red tones of the varnished mother-of-pearl leaves, colors repeated alternately on the outer hour markers and accentuated by the deep pink of the strap. Both models are easy to read, featuring skeletonized hour markers and gold hands with a luminescent coating that emits a subtle green glow. These two Excalibur Brocéliande watches, part of a limited edition of 88 pieces each, come in an 18K 750/1000 rose-gold case with a 38 mm diameter, featuring the collection’s three emblematic horns.
